WHAT DOES AN AI RECEPTIONIST SOUND LIKE ON AN EMERGENCY CALL?

Judge it for yourself. This is a demonstration call on our own line: the urgency is caught immediately, the problem is read back to confirm nothing was misheard, and a plumber is dispatched inside two minutes. Nobody was sitting by the phone.

Watch · 50 seconds

The short version

  • The urgency is identified in the opening seconds, not at the end of a script
  • The problem and address are read back so nothing is misheard under stress
  • Dispatch happens on the call, in under two minutes
  • Both voices in the recording are AI, on a demonstration line

THE TRANSCRIPT

That is our AI receptionist taking an emergency call. Both voices on this tape are AI, and nobody was sitting by the phone.

It caught the urgency straight away, read the whole problem back to make sure, and had a plumber dispatched in under two minutes.

WHY READING IT BACK MATTERS MORE THAN IT SOUNDS

The read-back is the least impressive-sounding moment in the recording and probably the most important one.

People in an emergency are poor sources of information about their own emergency. They give the address wrong, describe the wrong room, forget to mention that the water is still running, or answer a question they thought they heard. This is not carelessness, it is what stress does to anybody.

Repeating the whole thing back closes that gap while the caller is still there to correct it. It is the difference between a van arriving at the right property with the right expectation, and a wasted callout that everybody then has to unpick.

The details you get wrong under pressure are the ones that cost a whole visit.

SPEED IS THE PRODUCT IN EMERGENCY WORK

For urgent trades work, the useful measure is not how pleasant the call was. It is how long it took to go from a ringing phone to somebody actually being sent.

In the recording that is under two minutes, and no human was involved at any point. The comparison is not against your best day. It is against a voicemail at 2 a.m., or a message service that takes down a name and passes it on for someone to action whenever they next look.

That gap is where emergency jobs are won and lost, and it is almost entirely a function of who was available to answer rather than who was better at the work.

WHAT COUNTS AS AN EMERGENCY IS YOUR CALL

Escalation is only useful if it is calibrated to your business, and getting this wrong is expensive in both directions.

Treat everything as urgent and you are waking an on-call tech for a dripping tap, which stops being sustainable within about a week. Treat nothing as urgent and you miss the call that genuinely needed a van within the hour.

So the triage rules are yours. What escalates immediately, what is booked into the next available slot, what needs to reach you personally at any hour, and what can wait until morning. The system applies that consistently, at three in the morning, exactly as written.

A NOTE ON WHAT THIS RECORDING IS

It is worth being clear about what you are listening to. This is a demonstration on our own line, with an AI caller and our AI receptionist, not a recording of a real customer in distress.

We use a demonstration rather than a customer call deliberately. Publishing real callers' emergencies as marketing is not something we are willing to do, and the mechanics on display are identical either way. What you are judging is how the system handles the shape of an emergency call, which is exactly what it would do on a real one.

One honest note on the above. Some of this is included on every plan and some of it, particularly text messaging, bilingual answering, self-service rescheduling, no-show rebooking and the review engine, depends on which plan you are on. We map the pieces you actually need on the call rather than selling you the whole list.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can an AI receptionist really dispatch an emergency?

Yes, within the rules you set. In the recording above the urgency is identified in the opening seconds, the details are confirmed back to the caller, and a plumber is dispatched in under two minutes with nobody sitting by the phone.

How does it know what counts as an emergency?

You define it. What escalates immediately, what is booked into the next slot, and what must reach you personally are your rules, and they are applied the same way at three in the morning as at midday.

Is the call in this video a real customer?

No. It is a demonstration on our own line, with an AI caller and our AI receptionist. We do not publish real customers' emergency calls as marketing. The handling is identical to a live call.

What if the caller is panicking and hard to follow?

That is why the details are read back before the call ends. People under stress routinely give an address or a detail wrong, and confirming it while they are still on the line prevents a wasted visit.
